A volunteer resident Area co-ordinator supervises the scheme and liaises with the police.
Groups of residents form a series of Street Schemes, each organised by a Street co-ordinator.
NHW member's names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses are recorded and forwarded via the Area Co-ordinator to the Police.
Information describing local incidents, e.g. thefts, break-ins, etc. is received by the Area co-ordinator from the local Police (Westbury) and forwarded to the Street co-ordinators who pass the information to their community in order to keep them aware of criminal activity in their area.
Membership of a NW scheme should enable participants to receive a discount on their home insurance; it is a common fallacy that if there are some schemes in the village everyone in the village qualifies for a discount - not so.
