News From Your Wiltshire Councillor: Jerry Wickham News From Your Wiltshire Councillor: Jerry Wickham

The more observant of you will have noticed that I did not produce a report for your May edition. Instead, we had the elections to Wiltshire Council and I want to thank all who voted for me and enabled me to be your councilor for the next 4 years. Whilst my majority increased significantly, there were still a modest number of people who voted for my opponent, who incidentally did not produce a leaflet or indeed visit the area or turn up for the count on May 5th. To these people, I hope that I will gain your confidence over the forthcoming years since I firmly endeavor to operate in an apolitical manner wherever and whenever I can on issues affecting the villages I cover.

Throughout the period ahead of us, I intend to continue working alongside the Parish Council in the village and carefully listen to their views and that of local residents and act in their interests when I am able to do so.

I was pleased to be able to attend the Annual Parish Meeting and provide a report on Wiltshire Council. I also attended the Annual Parish Council Meeting which saw the new Council members, for the ensuing period, begin their work. I very much look forward working together over the next 4 years.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update on the series of fly tipping incidents around the area. These have been investigated by Wiltshire Council officers and from this, a number of people have been interviewed after caution. Please remain vigilant in the area and report and suspicious vehicles or activity to Wiltshire Council on 0300 4560111 or to Wiltshire Police on 101.

On a personal note, I was pleased to have been reappointed to my Cabinet position being responsible for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Public Protection and appreciate that this will be complex work over the next few years.

Finally, please feel free to make contact either through my email address or my home telephone of 01380 870476 or mobile 07980 701617 if you have any issues and need my help.
